3M Fall Protection-Authorized Person Comprehensive Badge Details

Objective
This program has been developed by the 3M Safety Training development team and is intended to be used during educational courses delivered by 3M Instructors, or other Instructors who have attended a Certified Instructor program taught by a 3M-accredited Master Instructor. Only Instructors with current 3M Certified Instructor certificates and approval are entitled to instruct others using this manual as prescribed.
Competencies
- Working at Height: Understanding the hazards associated with elevated work and applying safe practices to reduce the risk of falls in various work environments.
- Fall Protection Oversight: Gaining the knowledge needed to monitor, enforce, and support fall protection policies, including roles, responsibilities, and compliance requirements.
- Systems and Planning: Learning how to evaluate tasks, select appropriate fall protection systems, and plan work activities to ensure safety before work begins.
- Anchor Points: Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suitable anchorage points that meet strength, compatibility, and positioning requirements.
- Body Supports: Understanding different types of harnesses and body supports, including proper selection, fit, adjustment, and intended use.
- Connectors: Selecting and using connectors such as lanyards, self-retracting lifelines, and carabiners to properly link system components together.
- Descent and Rescue: Preparing for and responding to fall incidents by understanding rescue planning, descent devices, and post-fall considerations.
- Equipment Care: Learning proper inspection, maintenance, storage, and retirement of fall protection equipment to ensure reliability and longevity.
- Work Applications: Applying fall protection knowledge to real-world scenarios, job tasks, and industry-specific environments to ensure safe execution of work at height.
