HVAC Diagnostics - Heating Systems Badge Details
Objective
Built on the foundation of the most trusted brand in the industry, Snap-on provides the essential TOOLS FOR LIFE that shape the future of tomorrow’s workforce — certification programs, industry-supported curriculum and hands-on training with Snap-on products. The Snap-on HVAC DIAGNOSTICS INSTRUMENTS Certification is designed to train technicians in the advanced technologies needed to successfully test building heating, ventilation and air condition (HVAC) system performance. Participants will prepare and operate specialized tools to test for indoor air quality, carbon monoxide, air distribution, pressure and vacuum testing, temperature, fluid integrity, and combustible gases. Students and technicians who successfully complete the course will leave with the capabilities required for testing HVAC systems. This certification focuses on the heating side of the HVAC Diagnostics.
Competencies
- Infrared Thermometers to perform an emissivity measurement with an Infrared Thermometer, perform a surface contact temperature measurement with an Infrared Thermometer and perform a temperature differential test using the temperature rise formula.
- Combustible Gas Leak Detector to perform a sensitivity adjustment on the leak detector and perform a combustible chemical leak detection.
- Dual Pressure Manometer to perform a sampling and recording of the inlet gas and manifold gas pressure test and record the readings via the TPI View app, perform a static pressure test and a pressure switch test.
- Smart Flue Gas Analyzer to identify the proper locations on a heating system for flue gas testing and performing a flue gas test on both a mid- and high-efficiency furnace.
